SERVICES

We offer a wide range of architectural services from the most ordinary of permit applications to complex renovations and new buildings.  You can start by contacting us by email or phone and we can give you a free initial consultation with no obligation.  From this initial consultation, we can put the description of our services to you in a written agreement for your review.  Only pay for what you need from us as some projects require only basic architectural participation, while others require a greater participation including surveys, engineering, testing and inspection services.  In addition, we always include all sign offs of our work and completion documents at the end of construction, unless otherwise stated.

Since 2008, Architecture Work P.C. has designed OBS (Office Based Surgery) offices and procedure suites in and around New York City certified from all of the above agencies. Our compliance consultants work with us to make sure we can deliver a premise that will pass inspection and they will help you and your staff to get certified by the independent agencies having jurisdiction over your new procedure suite. We can provide a complete full interior design and planning service.

The first medical office we designed at Architecture Work P.C. was for a prominent orthopedic surgeon on Long Island in 1984. Paper files & voluminous onsite chart storage were required. The administrative part of the average medical consumed 1/3rd of the total floor space, which was considered quite efficient. By the mid 1990’s that proportion was beginning to exceed almost 2/3rds the space allocated to administration! The advent of electronic storage and the changing nature of payments to doctors created an effort to roll back this alarming trend – doctors became more aware of what they could “live with” in terms of the size of the rooms and computers enabled higher productivity of the staff. Office “flow” for the floor plan layouts became paramount.

MEDICAL AND OFFICE BASED SURGERY

To date Architecture Work P.C. in New York, NY has designed over a hundred offices in the metro area and Long Island including orthopedic, sports medicine, pain management, vascular, psychiatric, dermatological, plastic surgery and dental practices. On each project, we always strive to achieve the most efficient use of the space & make our doctors needs fit neatly.

Office based surgery (OBS) is an area of medicine rapidly expanding and we were among the first architectural firms to enter this sector of medical building projects. Legislation enacted in 2009 mandates that doctors may certain ambulatory procedures on patients in special surgical suites within their regular places of business provided they meet design standards set by one of three independent certification agencies:
-American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities (AAAASF)
-Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC)
-The Joint Commission

RENOVATIONS - RESIDENTIAL & COMMERCIAL

Many of our projects consist of the renovation of existing spaces. These can be for commercial office uses to residential apartment units. This gives us a tremendous flexibility and expertise in the most challenging of design problems. Although much of our work is here in New York City, we have clientele from the surrounding towns & villages from Long Island to Connecticut and Upstate New York. We are licensed in New York State and Connecticut, but as a member of N.C.A.R.B. (National Council of Architectural Registration Boards), we can easily apply for licensing elsewhere if needed.

We have produced hundreds of residential and commercial renovation projects in the New York City Greater Metropolitan Area, Upstate New York, Long Island and Connecticut. Here in NYC we do many individual apartment units and townhouses. Our commercial clientele range from over a variety of business uses from law to financial services to medical. We also have designed and renovated a number of private residences.

NEW CONSTRUCTION & ADAPTIVE RE-USE

Many of our projects consist of the renovation/ adaptive re-use of existing spaces. These can be for commercial office uses to residential apartment units. We also do new construction projects from building developments to private homes.

At Architecture Work P.C. our commercial architectural projects include such diverse facilities as a new gas station and associated retail stores on Staten Island, a new building for medical facility use in Nassau County and a new private home in Suffolk County.

Similar to a new building, adaptive re-use buildings  are typically stripped back to the basic structure, modify this structure, completely remove all mechanical equipment, exterior and interior walls and floors and start again with a new use within the “old shell”. In conjunction with the buildings basic core we also provide interior design services from space planning to furniture procurement.
