Medical Office completed during Covid

We got Buildings Department job approval for a new medical office in March 2020 just as the Covid-19 restrictions on construction were enacted.  The project seemed stopped before it could start.  Within a few weeks, DOB added a new work category called "essential services", which seemed a hopeful opportunity to get the project back on track.  Under certain guidelines, qualifying construction projects could start and/or continue based upon completed "use" being deemed "essential".   Strict workplace protocols in an updated "protection plan" needed to be approved by the Department on a case by case basis.  Inspectors did check for compliance.

Long story short, it took three application uploads of affidavits, worker/tenant protection plans and forms for our "essential services" exemption to be approved. Construction started late April and the project was completed by end July.   Practice opened in August.  Much to our client's delight - business is booming and they are planning a second satellite office later this year as was the original pre-Covid business plan.

Congratulations to the construction team for staying healthy, the clients and their decorating team for creating a beautiful new space!
